Whether in your kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or living room, durability is one of the many factors to consider when choosing new floors for your home. For high-traffic businesses like restaurants, retail shops, hospitals, and even schools, durability is the main factor. There are so many options to choose from, but which one suits your business the best? Here are a few types to choose from:
Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)
Vinyl flooring has proven itself to be a reliable flooring option for both residential and commercial spaces over the past few years. It is one of the most versatile flooring products on the market and is suited for businesses ranging from upscale restaurants to the neighborhood dive bar. Because it comes in so many colors and styles you can really use it in any setting. Recently, we installed some Mohawk LVT at Totally Running and Walking, an athletic gear store in Cumming. Take a look at the beautiful grey color that was chosen for both its modern appeal and ability to hide dirt and scuff marks.
Carpet Tile
Carpet tiles are a type of broadloom carpeting that is both easier to replace when damaged and more resistant to moisture than most carpets. They are a great soft surface option to make a space feel more comfortable and inviting, especially in schools or even churches. Some commercial businesses, like restaurants or hospitals may be scared of the idea of carpet due to the increased possibility of stains and spills. However, with consistent vacuuming and cleaning, most carpet tile options will last for a long time. We installed a high performance Aladdin commercial carpet tile at Gwinnett Place Honda not too long ago to withstand the heavy cars and objects being placed in the showroom. “The replaceable tiles we went with so that if there was a problem in an area, we could just pull up that tile and replace it and not the whole area,” said PJ Maher from Gwinnett Place Honda.
Other Options
Besides the normal carpet tile and vinyl plank, there are several other options available that are more specific to certain commercial environments. For instance, rubber flooring is long-lasting, slip resistant, and sound absorbent, which is great for places like gyms or daycares. Terrazzo is more of high end commercial flooring option made with bits of marble and granite, and is perfect when you want to add a statement to your business like in the entryway or in a showroom. See the top photo to get a glimpse of how elegant terrazzo can look.
Choosing a new floor is a big business decision and can cost more depending on the size of the establishment. While commercial flooring doesn’t have the longevity that residential flooring does, it is still important that you choose the most durable option for your store or workplace.
